Diving from small boats has always been an important part of the club's activities, from early days with inflatable craft (assembled on the beach) up to the highly capable platform we have today.
Our current boat, "Vixen", is built up from the dive version of Ribcraft's highly successful 6.8 metre Offshore range. Powered by a Suzuki 175hp in-line 4-cylinder four-stroke she will achieve around 36 knots at 70 litres per hour flat out and will cruise more economically at about 20 - 25 knots at 35 litres per hour.
Onboard Safety Equipment includes:
- Radar reflector
- 406MHz EPIRB
- GMDSS VHF
- O2 Kit
- First aid kit
- Offshore flare pack
Fully kitted up we can take 8 divers and 2 crew out to most UK dive sites - Plymouth to Eddystone light is about 30 minutes.
We have Lowrance electronics installed running two multifunction displays, which allows intergrated use of:
- Engine management data
- Side scan sonar
- Conventional sonar
- GPS & Cartography
Check out the capabilities of our awesome sidescan sonar here.
