Diving trip - The Farnes

Plans are underway for LUEC’s annual dive holiday to the Farnes in Northumberland.

Acknowledged as one of the UK’s top dive sites, the Farnes provides members with the opportunity to get up close and personal with the resident seals.

Spaces (self-catered accommodation in Seahouses for the week), are available on a first-come, first serve basis. Additional local accommodation (including B&B’s and a campsite is also nearby). The price is c. £30pppn and an initial deposit of £60 is required. The remaining balance needs to be paid by 4 April.

Snorkelling and dives will be undertaken from the Club RIB, with two dives per day scheduled. Most diving is around 20m so suitable for Ocean Diver grades (or above).

The full cost of the trip will be calculated on return from the holiday, but to aid budgeting, the below are the 2019 charges. We do anticipate that these will be quite a bit higher this year due to hikes in fuel and general inflation.

  • Boat use levy (contribution towards annual storage, insurance, maintenance etc): £10

  • One off payment to cover harbour fees, trailer storage and towing fuel: £25

  • Cost per dive/snorkel (boat fuel): £6

  • Air fills: £4-5

To express an interest in joining the trip or to secure your place please contact LUEC member Kev Briggs via the Club Secretary or via the Diving Coordination Whatspp group.
