Club membership

Whether you are a avid diver with years of technical experience, keen to develop your skills with a friendly bunch of like-minded people or are a beginner seeking to take your first plunge into the underwater world you will be a welcome addition to our Club.

LUEC is an inclusive Club with a healthy membership base of 40 individuals of all ages and water-related experiences. Just under a third (32%) of our members are female - higher than the national BSAC average. We also have instructors with extensive experience teaching and supporting individuals with physical and learning difficulties and encourage everyone to give it a go!

If you would like to undertake dive (or snorkel) training with us, or join us on one of our many dive related excursions we recommend that you become a member of the Club.

Membership benefits

Depending on your membership grade (and interests - snorkelling or scuba diving) this affords you a range of membership benefits. For example Ocean Diver graded membership includes:

  • Membership of both LUEC and the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), with full voting rights (after an initial three months).

  • Training and instruction by BSAC qualified volunteer instructors.

  • Ocean Diver training pack and Ocean Diver qualification/certification

  • Access to the pool for you and your family at the Aylestone Leisure Centre every Thursday evening between 20:00 and 21:00.

  • Ongoing support from Club members and the BSAC East Midlands Regional Team.

  • Worldwide third party liability dive insurance, up to the value of £10 million; with exclusive deals for technical divers and those over the age of 60.

  • Access to Club trips and our boat.

  • Monthly subscription to Scuba - BSAC’s official magazine.

  • Access to BSAC Plus and discounts at top outdoor lifestyle brands, giving you discounts and benefits to save you money in your daily lives.

Membership fees

We aim to keep our costs as low as we can to ensure that we are as accessible to as many people as possible. Fees can be paid in one upfront payment or by direct debit, enabling you to spread the cost over a maximum of 10 months. We also offer significantly reduced membership rates for under 18’s and students.
