Plans are underway for LUEC’s annual dive holiday to the Farnes in Northumberland.
Acknowledged as one of the UK’s top dive sites, the Farnes provides members with the opportunity to get up close and personal with the resident seals.
Spaces (self-catered accommodation in Seahouses for the week), are available on a first-come, first serve basis. Additional local accommodation (including B&B’s and a campsite is also nearby).
Snorkelling and dives will be undertaken from the Club RIB, with two dives per day scheduled. Most diving is around 20m so suitable for Ocean Diver grades (or above).
The full cost of the dive related activities will be calculated on return from the holiday, but to aid budgeting, the below are the 2022 charges. These may increase slightly in line with current inflation.
Boat use levy (contribution towards annual storage, insurance, maintenance etc): £20
One off payment to cover harbour fees, trailer storage and towing fuel: £25
Cost per dive/snorkel (boat fuel): £8.50-£10
Air fills: £5-6
We usually eat out on the first and last evenings and have takeaways the rest of the time, all the usual Indian, Chinese, Italian, oh – and of course – Fish & Chips. There is also the traditional Quiz night at The Schooner Inn which we seem to have a habit of winning much to the local’s dismay! Last year our win was all thanks to Doug’s amazing knowledge of African geography.
